The nail world has never had more options — which is wonderful, but also genuinely confusing. Clients frequently ask us which service is "the best," and the honest answer is: it depends. Each system has distinct strengths, and the right choice comes down to what your nails need and how you live your life.
Gel / Shellac Polish
Gel polish is cured under UV/LED light and delivers a high-gloss finish that lasts 2–3 weeks without chipping. It's the closest to a regular polish experience — thin, flexible, and natural-looking. Gel is ideal if you want nail color without significant extension or added structure. Removal is straightforward with proper technique.
Dip Powder
Dip powder uses a resin adhesive and finely-milled powder to build a durable, odorless layer over the nail. It's stronger than gel polish and doesn't require UV light. Clients with weak or thin nails often find dip powder adds helpful structure without the heaviness of acrylic. It lasts 3–4 weeks and maintains a matte or glossy finish depending on the topcoat.
“The best system is the one that works with your nails — not the one that works despite them.”
Builder Gel
Builder gel sits between gel polish and hard gel in terms of consistency and strength. It's flexible enough to move with the natural nail but strong enough to build length and correct shape. We use builder gel for clients who want added length, strengthened structure, or nail repair. Our Plexigel service uses CND's structured builder system for a natural, refined result.
Quick reference:
Want color with no thickness → Gel Polish
Want durability + strength, no extension → Dip Powder
Want length, structure, or repair → Builder Gel
Want added reinforcement on top of a manicure → Plexigel
