Lash extensions have a remarkable ability to change the perceived shape of your eyes — which is exactly why choosing a style is more nuanced than simply picking what looks pretty on someone else's Instagram. The right map starts with your natural eye shape.
Mapping Your Eye Shape
Before our lash artists apply a single extension, they assess your eye's natural dimensions: where the inner and outer corners sit, how much lid is visible, and whether the eye leans almond, round, downturned, or hooded. Each of these calls for a different length and curl distribution.
The Four Classic Eye Shapes
Almond: Most styles work beautifully. Cat-eye and doll-eye both enhance without distorting.
Round: Elongating styles (cat-eye, squirrel) add definition without widening further.
Hooded: Longer lengths in the center lift the lid visually; avoid heavy outer placement.
Downturned: Upswept outer-corner mapping creates a lift effect and balances the droop.
“The best lash map is the one you forget you’re wearing — because it makes your eyes look like yours, just elevated.”
Volume vs. Classic vs. Wispy
Classic extensions apply one extension per natural lash — clean, defined, and natural-looking. Volume fans apply 3–6 ultra-fine extensions to a single lash, creating fullness and density. Wispy sets mix lengths and curls to create a textured, fluttery effect. Many of our clients request hybrid sets that blend classic bases with wispy fan accents for the best of both worlds.
For first-time clients, we always recommend booking a consultation at least a week before your desired appointment. Lash mapping takes time, and the right style is always worth thinking through.
